Hello Mr. Akmal 1. There are relationship between Standart Operating Procedure and Job Description. The implementation of the Standard Operating Procedure ( SOP ) and the job description is considered increasingly important in today's business development . Operational procedures are more complex, higher quality standards, and increasing competition in the business discipline requires each company to its employees in order to behave according to company’s standards . The existence of the job description and standardized SOP can help companies deliver messages regarding employee performance expectations expected by management. SOP in the company's operations go hand in hand with the job description. Details of the job description that contains comprehensive information about the task / responsibilities, and the conditions that necessary when they work tell the function of each employee within the company. Job description describes the specifications of each job or task from a given position. Why SOP are needed many companies? In accordance with the development of the company and the complexity and dynamics of the existing business, are increasingly required SOP role in the company as a guide in conducting a work process. It is conceivable, with no standard guidelines (SOP) will certainly lead to confusion among employees. Every business has a unique market, every entrepreneur has his/her own leadership style, and every industry has its own best practices. Below is a listing of just a few typical SOP, which you will want to consider writing for small business. Example of SOP In business: Production/Operations • production line steps • equipment maintenance, inspection procedures • new employee training Finance and Administration • accounts receivable • billing and collections process • accounts payable process maximizing • cash flow while meeting all payment • deadlines Marketing, Sales and Customer Service • approval of external communications: press releases, social media, advert, etc. • preparation of sales quotes • service delivery process including response times warranty, guarantee, refund/exchange policies/ acknowledgment. • resolution of complaints, customer comments and suggestions Employing Staff o job descriptions o employee orientation and training o corrective action and discipline o performance reviews o use of Internet and social media for business purpose 2. I agree with Neha’s opinion. This system contains a sequence of process of the job from start to finish. Something that is done in detail, clearly and not in a hurry will produce an optimal results. If applied on the right time then the SOP can be used as a tool to reduce errors and indiscipline factor in of employees and also can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of employees either individually or in groups, Increase the independence of employees so they do not necessarily depend on management / leadership in carry out their duties. Create a standard size of work that can be used by the employee in evaluating and repairing abilities. Provides information on improving the competence of employees references : hrd-forum.com/article-hrd/apa-itu-standard-operating-procedure-sop/www.brampton.ca/en/Business/sbec/resources/Documents/What%20is%20a%20Standard%20Operating%20Procedure%28SOP%29.pdf

1. For the first question, is there any relationship between job description and job standard of operational? In my opinion, there is relationship between job description and job standard of operational. As we know that Job description is written statement of a specific job, It includes duties, purpose, responsibilities, scope, and working conditions of a particular job. In the other hand, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is set of procedures or a detail written instructions to achieve uniformity of the performance of a specific function. When we want get a job we have to understand the competencies and skills that required and need to produce work of the company, so the job descriptions are needed. Job description helps the employee to know the way to work in the company. SOP is important and needed in every job, so that the employee knows what they want to do with their job. Although the employee does not know what they have to do, they can ask to the supervisor or the supervisor can give the direct instructions to them. For example; when we are as a secretary, we must know the job description of secretary. And we have to know and understand that the duty of secretary like write a letter, receiving and sending mail, typing, receiving guests and make an agreement with guest, receiving a call, sending a telegram, accept a dictation, etc.
2. For the second question. According to Neha, it needs three months to complete the SOP of particular job. I agree with that. When we want something perfect, we must prepare it well. Completing SOP has to look on the details of the job description for a particular job. Moreover, it must be tested and evaluated in depth do SOP will be succeed.

Dear Mr.Akmal,
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read this article. After I have read the article, I got some information about standard of operational procedure for hotel. Consequently, I could answer your questions. Here are my answers. 1.Of course, there is a relationship between job description and job standard of operational procedure. Every job has its standard of operational procedure to do the activities of the job. For example, when I work at restaurant as a waitress, I have to follow the standard of operational procedure. In restaurant A has a standard of operational procedure that the waitress has to order the mystery shopper with score 100. When I did not get score 100, the supervisor has to inquire which standard of operational procedure that I did not do. In order to the job will work well, I have to follow the standard of operational procedure. Moreover, when I find a problem in my job, I can inquire the source of the problem by the standard of operational procedure of the restaurant. Doing job has to follow the standard of operational procedure to make the employees easier check their works. 2.Yes, I agree with Neha’s statement. It needs three months to complete the SOP of particular job. A new worker needs time to study the standard of operational procedure of the company. They will do their work well, when they know the standard of operational procedure. Through the time, the worker will understand and easy for doing their job based on standard of operational procedure. Thus, when they find a problem, they will know by inquire the standard of operational procedure. Three month is effective to complete the standard of operational procedure of particular job. Moreover, it needs to do evaluating and test the standard of operational procedure at least once three month.
That’s all my answers. Thank you.

1. yes, I think there are many relationship between job description and job standard of operational. job description and job standard of operational are responsible for the day-to-day management of a hotel and its staff. They have commercial accountability for budgeting and financial management, planning, organising and directing all hotel services, including front-of-house (reception, concierge, reservations), food and beverage operations, and housekeeping. both of them have the purpose to outline job of management staff and hourly team members at the hotels so the team members are well aware of their responsibilities and duties. 2. yes, I agree. SOP is a written document that lists the instructions, step-by-step, on how to complete a job task or how to handle a specific situation when it arises in the workplace. so to make the good SOP, we have to do it carefully and do not rush. Thank you sir for the opportunity, I have already read the journal about Important Standard Operating Procedure for Hotels by Neha barooah and from the discussion of this journal i have been answered 2 questions given below. Question number 1--You have already known from the text that in doing his/her job, hotel staff should have a SOP of the job.Is there any relationship between job description and job standard of operational? Please give your answer and support by example. Answer number 1--The Definition of SOP : Standard operating procedures (SOP) are a detailed explanation of how a policy is to be implemented. The SOP may appear on the same form as a policy or it may appear in a separate document. The main difference between a SOP and a policy are details. An effective SOP communicates who will perform the task, what materials are necessary, where the task will take place, when the task shall be performed, and how the person will execute the task. (http://www.extension.iastate.edu/foodsafety/toolkit/communication/overviewofsops.pdf) The Definition of job description : job descriptions are written statements that describe the: • duties, • responsibilities, • most important contributions and outcomes needed from a position, • required qualifications of candidates, and • reporting relationship and coworkers of a particular job. Job descriptions are based on objective information obtained through job analysis, an understanding of the competencies and skills required to accomplish needed tasks, and the needs of the organization to produce work. They clearly identify and spell out the responsibilities of a specific job. Job descriptions also include information about working conditions, tools, equipment used, knowledge and skills needed, and relationships with other positions. The best job descriptions are living, breathing documents that are updated as responsibilities change. They do not limit employees, but rather, cause them to stretch their experience, grow their skills, and develop their ability to contribute within their organization. (http://humanresources.about.com/od/jobdescriptions/g/job_description.htm) SOP describes how to do the job properly with safety and on time without complaint.Job description describes what things or work to be done according to SOP. So their relationship is a work performed by the things that need to be considered or standardize a work to be understood or known as SOP. Question number 2-- According to Neha (the writer of the essay), it needs three months to complete the SOP of particular job,do agree or disagree? Please explain Answer number 2-- As the explanation from Neha, that is to complete the SOP in some jobs or particular, I said agree to the statement, because it needs to evaluate deeply and also it must be tested. To test the SOP, need many time because it has some criteria that selected by some hotel to the employeers. company must conduct outreach or provide information to employees regarding SOP needs then at least 3 months time to any work is performed according to the SOP Thank you sir Sartika Dwi Yudhitya 10420170 7B

Firstly , I would like to thank to Mr . Akmal , because with this forum I have new insights about discussion forums . And thank you for this new article and a new discussion anyway . And now, I would answer the questions below . 1. I think between the job description and job standards of operations has a significant relationship . Because when viewed from the job description itself is a statement that has meaning duties , responsibilities , contributions are important , the results required of the position and the qualifications required of candidates. It is based on objective information obtained through job analysis, an understanding of the competencies and skills required to complete the necessary tasks . While the standard of operational job itself is about how the policy will be implemented because of his existing responsibilities and contributions. Because basically the purpose of the SOP is for employee training , corrective and disciplinary actions , and performance assessment . So with that will achieve maximum results from workers who have already qualified . For the example, more details as follows : Handwashing Policy: All food production and service personnel will follow proper handwashing practices to ensure the safety of food served to customers. Procedure: All employees in the restaurant should wash hands using the following steps: 1. Wash hands (including under the fingernails) and forearms vigorously and thoroughly with soap and warm water (water temperature should be at least 100ºF) for a period of 20 seconds. 2. Wash hands using soap from a soap dispenser. Lather at least 10 seconds. 3. Use a sanitary nail brush to remove dirt from under fingernails. 4. Wash between fingers thoroughly. 5. Use only hand sinks designated for that purpose. Do not wash hands in sinks in the production area. 6. Dry hands with single use towels or a mechanical hot dryer. (Retractable cloth towel dispenser systems are not recommended.) Turn off faucets using a paper towel in order to prevent recontamination of clean hands if foot pedals are not available.
2. I strongly agree with Neha. Due to the presence of three months we can better understand and explore the details of what we are doing or we do. That way we can perform tasks in a consistent manner. Because SOP serves as a learning resource which allows employees to act without asking directions, warranty, or guidance. So, with training for three months, the resulting product will be perfect.

1. There is a relationship between job description and job standard of operational. Because job description is clearly identify and spell out the responsibilities of a specific job. They do not limit employees, but rather, cause them to stretch their experience, grow their skills, and develop their ability to contribute within their organization. While the job standard of operational is written procedure can also help hold employees accountable because employee expectations are documented and their actions can be measured against the SOP. Communicating procedures that anyone in the operation can follow with consistent results will ensure your operation continually provides high quality products and services.
2. I’m agree about Neha’s statement that Standard operating procedures can take up to three months to complete. Hotel standard operating procedures are more successful when employees are involved in its creation. An effective SOP communicates who will perform the task, what materials are necessary, where the task will take place, when the task shall be performed, and how the person will execute the task.

Hello sir Im sory for being late. I have read this article , this is the good article . First of all I will explain about definition of JOB DESCRIPTION is a list of the responsibilities which you have and the duties which you are expected to perform in your work. (Cambridge dictionary) And now my opinion is Of course there is the big relationship between Job description and Job Standard of Operational. This context is about job standart of operational in hotel , if we get job in hotel we must also know the standart operation in those hotel . I think the the advantages of relationship between between Job description and Job Standard of Operational are : 1. To improve the customer experience. 2. It is the best way to handle a situation, from Fielding guest complaint handling, fire drills 3. It can provide a positive guest. 4. To ensure that the hotel promises to keep its marketing materials and advertising. 5. It was made to ensure that customers specially to receive the same treatment every time they visit 6. It can help employers posting job opportunities for the future Standard Operating Procedure for Hotels in General because the role of each employee is clearly indicated. The example of Job Description in hotel : Hotel Manager Responsibilities: The hotel manager provides overall leadership, guidance, and direction to the hotel management team as it strives to provide the highest quality in standards and services. In addition, this individual acts as the main liaison between the client and hotel staff. The hotel manager also ensures that hotel and client financial obligations are met. Special qualifications: The ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services, entrepreneurship and building and growing a strong business is essential to success in this role. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, senior management, and support staff. Ability to respond effectively to changing demands. Experience: A minimum of four year's experience in hotel or hospitality industry required. Premise and liability accountability andcontract-managed service experience is desirable. Education: Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in institutions' management, hospitality services, foods and nutrition, business administration or other related field. Core competencies: Communication, Fiscal Management, Management, Planning And now I'll explain definition of SOP , Standard operating procedures (SOP) are a detailed explanation of how a policy is to be implemented. The SOP may appear on the same form as a policy or it may appear in a separate document. The main difference between a SOP and a policy are details. An effective SOP communicates who will perform the task, what materials are necessary, where the task will take place, when the task shall be performed, and how the person will execute the task. The details in an SOP standardize the process and provide step-by-step how-to instructions that enable anyone within your operation to perform the task in a consistent manner. The SOP document serves as an instructional resource that allows employees to act without asking for directions, reassurance, or guidance. The step-by-step written procedure can also help hold employees accountable because employee expectations are documented and their actions can be measured against the SOP. Communicating procedures that anyone in the operation can follow with consistent results will ensure your operation continually provides high quality products and services. "A Standard Operating Procedure is a document which describes the regularly recurring operations relevant to the quality of the investigation. The purpose of a SOP is to carry out the operations correctly and always in the same manner. A SOP should be available at the place where the work is done". Elements of an SOP: • Rationale for SOP • Detailed description of procedure – based on best practice/standards • Monitoring actions • Accountability • Corrective Actions • Date of last review or revision date 2. According to Neha (the writer of the essay), it needs three months to complete the SOP of particular job. I dont agree with that statement. I know that we need much time to doing something well , but I think three months is very long to complete the SOP . Maybe two months is enough to complete the SOP of particular job is reasonable time to get the good result. Thank you for the questions Mr. Akmal. I am going to try to answer the two questions that you gave.
Here the answer of no.1, Yes, there is any relationship between job description and job standard of operational. I think, job description and job standard of operational has the same manner to describe or explain the ways to do the job clearly. The two of them (job description and job standard operational) must be has the rules which it is not different to know how the activity or the action to do the job as good as the person or employee does. I give the example to support my answer. The job title is a room boy. The job description is to clean and service the guest rooms. The room boy must be pleasant, honest, friendly and also able to address guest requests and problems. So, the room boy must have also known the SOP in his job from what the room boy must do in the SOP well.
The answer of no.2, According to Neha, it needs three months to complete the SOP of particular job. For the Neha’s statement, I do agree for it exactly. Especially, it based on the term and condition of the company itself (Hotel). For the employee itself, he or she does the things to do in the SOP in three months step by step certainly. The employee whom does SOP well, it will be a good result in time successfully. Because of the time given, it will make the employee know all the steps or the ways to do in a good way in SOP itself. In short, the employee can be able to do the SOP in particular job in three months with the willing and full of strenght and spirit that the employee has of course.

For the first, sorry to Mr Akmal because I'm late to send my answer about this article because I got sick so I'm so sorry.
Number 1:
I agree about the journal by neha job description and job standard of operation I think that Job description is a list that a person might use for general tasks, functions, and responsibilities of a position .Job descriptions contain of a simple list of competencies; for instance, strategic human resource planning methodologies that may be used to develop a competency architecture for an organization, from which job descriptions are built as a shortlist of competencies. A job analysis influences the development of a job description, which includes examining the tasks and sequences of tasks that is important to perform the job. My general task is enlisting the costumers who want to check in. My function is to enlist the costumers and give them information. My responsibilities is giving the sure information about the specification of the hotel. The job description might be broadened to form a person specification or may be known as Terms Of Reference. The person/job specification can be presented as a stand alone document though in practice, it is usually included within the job description.
Number 2:
I agree to complete the SOP of particular job needs three months. Everything needs a process.SOP can help employers posting job opportunities for the future Standard Operating Procedure to take SOP also provides a basis for performance evaluations of the hotel employees. To make SOP works well, all component of hotel have to work together and solve any problems together. I think three months are enough to make a good SOP.

Good Morning, Sir. I’m really sorry for being late to post my answer, Sir. I have read an essay written by Neha Barooah entitled "Important Standard Operating Procedure for Hotels". A Standard Operating Procedure is a document which describes the regularly recurring operations relevant to the quality of the investigation. The purpose of a SOP is to carry out the operations correctly and always in the same manner. A SOP should be available at the place where the work is done. 1. Yes, there is. Based on the article I have read before, I concluded that job description and job standard of operational have relationship that cannot be separated, because each job description has their own SOPs. Job description has standard work that is appropriate to the needs of each division and the employees have to do their work as job description to reach the targets and purposes. So the employee will know what is her/his job and they can give the best effort in their job. It is impossible for an individual to properly commit to or be held accountable for the position’s role and responsibilities without a job description, job description are required for recruitment, enable you to distinguish positions, delineate tasks and determine pay levels. Standard operating procedures are made to ensure that customers specially to receive the same treatment every time they visit the hotel. A complete SOP can help employers posting job opportunities for the future Standard Operating Procedure for Hotels in general because the role of each employee is clearly indicated. The SOP establish a systemic way of doing work and ensure that work is done consistently by all persons who are required to do the same task. The employees must know will be the responsibility of each division. For example, the job description, if we work at hotel, as waiter of hotel restaurant, we have to: - Greet the guests and present them with the menu.
- Inform guests about the special items for the day and menu changes if any.
- Suggest food and beverages to the guest and also try to up sell.
- Take food and beverage orders from the guest on the order taking pads or on the handheld Point of sale ( POS ) system.
- Obtaining revenues, issuing receipts, accepting payments, returning the change.
- Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
- Filling in for absent staff as needed
- Punch the order on the POS machine and makes sure to enter the special requirements made by the guest while ordering the food. Such as: no garlic, less spicy, without egg etc.
- Communicate to the guest and provide assistance with their queries.
- Co - ordinate with the bus person, kitchen staff, bar staff to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction.
- Server food and beverage to the guest as per the course of order.
- Observe guests and ensure their satisfaction with the food and service.
- Promptly respond to guest with any additional request.
- Maintaining proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
- Prepare mixed drinks for service to your customers table.
- Properly open and pour wine at the table side.
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
- Understand and can communicate products and services available at the resort.
- Must have some familiarity with basic cooking skills.
- Assist bus persons with stocking and maintains the restaurant par stock levels and side station.
- Help other areas of the restaurant such as answering telephones and completing financial transactions.
- Print closing report and drop the cash with the front office / accounts department.
- Tally the Credit Card settlements for the day with the batch closing report from EDC machine.
- Close the shift on the POS terminal.
There are SOPs for waiter in a hotel restaurant, a successful waiter should:- Be confident and friendly. Smile at guests and engage in useful conversation. Avoid personal talk, as guests are there to enjoy themselves and not help you through personal problems.
- Be accurate. Make sure you repeat everyone's order back to them to ensure that you have it right. Nothing frustrates a guest more than to have their order messed up and the delays that result.
- Ensure guest satisfaction. After you deliver food to guests, take a few moments before leaving to make sure that everything is to the guest's satisfaction. If drinks need to be refilled this is a good opportunity to do so. Also, check back in periodically to make sure that the guests have everything that they need.
- Not hover. While you want to make yourself available if the guest requires your services, once you have checked on them and they have everything they need, allow them to enjoy their meal.
- Keep an eye on guests. In connection with the last point, while you don't want to hover over guests, you do want to be within eye contact so that if they signal you or otherwise want to get your attention, you will be able to respond quickly.
- Rush guests. Do not give the impression that you are rushing guests by asking if they are ready of their check or asking if they are finished eating. Instead, allow guests to signal when they are done and ready to pay for their meal.
- In addition to following the above duties, waiters should have a few common characteristics that allow for consistent success: a good waiter is tactful, a good waiter is responsible, a good waiter possesses round knowledge of an establishment's services and products, a good waiter pays attention to details, a good waiter is well dressed.
It can be that the SOP is the rule how to do the job description (the rule to reach the targets and purposes of the job).
2. According to Neha (the writer of the essay), it needs three months to complete the SOP of particular job. I agree with the statement, because to complete the SOP of particular job needs three months because to succeed the SOP of particular job must be tested and evaluated in depth. Standard operating procedures are made to ensure that customers specially to receive the same treatment every time they visit the hotel. Standard operating procedures play an important role. To sum up, in completing the SOP of particular job needs three months or more because we need to know more about the SOPs and SOP is a very detailed list within a company or hotel. every jobs have each criteria, therefore it needs to be long term to make time and complete the SOP as particular job. 1. Job descriptions are based on objective information obtained through , an understanding of the competencies and skills required to accomplish needed tasks, and the needs of the organization to produce work. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) lets you ope rationalize documents such as plans, regulation, compliance, and policies. SOP distil requirements contained in these documents into a format that can be used by staff members in their work environment. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) should be transferred without every modification to insure the expected results. Every modification or divergence of a given standard, the Procedure should being served, while an investigation and results of the investigation documented according to the internal divergence procedure. All high-class processes and procedures should be put on in a Standard Operating Procedure. This Standard Operating Procedure should be the base for the everyday training programmed of every employee. The Standard Operating Procedure should be often updated to insure of obedience to the realization conditions and the working practice. 2. I agree with Neha' s essay that it needs three months to complete the SOP of particular job. Because to make standard of operational procedure it need some steps to do and that to succeed, must be tested and evaluated in depth. Endah Tri Ardiyani 10420340/ 7C

Hello Mr. Akmal. My name is Okky Eviana Ekasari from class 7A. From the article that I have read, by the titled “Important Standard Operating Procedure for Hotels”, by Neha Barooah, it can be known that Standard Operating Procedure or SOP is one of the main keys to success of the hotel. SOP is important to improve the customer experience. Not only important for the customer but also for the staff. Why SOP important for staff is because it can make the staff know how the way to handle a situation, from Fielding guest complaint handling, fire drills. By creating a structure for service abroad, which is consistent and well thought out, senior management, hotels can provide a positive guest. A good SOP will produce a good staff. Of course it will keep and improve the customers’ experience.
1. I think there are many relationship between job description and job standard of operational. Job standar of operational can improve the skill of employees, and also it became the way to create organization on job. The company must give SOP and evaluate the employees. Example: I am working in broadcasting company and my office has SOP to employees. Every employee must know their job, because the office is media company. So, employees must work as team work not INDIVIDUALLY. It means that my office have SOP for each division. Staff program and announcer have SOP to create on air event. The account executive (AE) also has SOP. The end of month the team make evaluation for increase the skill.
2. According to Neha, it needs three months to complete the SOP of particular job. I agree with him about the time needed in completing SOP, for SOP is not something which easy to decided and must go through some steps. We can divide those three months into three phases. The first one is we have to decided what SOP must be used, we can consult to another hotel which has used SOP to make comparison and maybe ‘copy’ their SOP, of course not of all SOP. I agree that SOP can take up to three months to complete. To complete the SOP, employees learn the procedure of the job, in order to make harm office’s condition. Employees have to keep customers and client, because hotel industry gets benefit from clients (as same as broadcasting company).

I am sorry for being late sir. The answer for the first question is yes there is correlation between job description and job standard of operational. Job description is essential job function. A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is a set of written instructions that document a routine or repetitive activity followed by a Hotel. Standard operating procedures (SOP) are a detailed explanation of how a policy is to be implemented. The SOP may appear on the same form as a policy or it may appear in a separate document. An effective SOP communicates who will perform the task, what materials are necessary, where the task will take place, when the task shall be performed, and how the person will execute the task. SOP helps in maintaining quality and consistency of service and standard's in your hotel. Purpose of SOP are serve as framework for organizational policy – provide direction and structure, written documentation of best practice, tells what, how, when, why, and who and provide foundation for: job descriptions, employee training, corrective action and discipline, and performance review. For example the development and use of SOPs are an integral part of a successful quality system as it provides individuals with the information to perform a job properly, and facilitates consistency in the quality and integrity of a product. It is a must that all newly recruited hotel staff should be given training on hotels SOP. I am agree because to make an SOP need long time for prepare it well. What it will be arranged in doing something. What employees will do, it must based on the SOP.

1.There is relationship between job description and job standard operational. From Wikipedia,A job description is a list that a person might use for general tasks, or functions, and responsibilities of a position. It may often include to whom the position reports, specifications such as thequalifications or skills needed by the person in the job, or a salary range. Job descriptions are usually narrative,[1] but some may instead comprise a simple list of competencies; for instance, strategic human resource planning methodologies may be used to develop a competency architecture for an organization, from which job descriptions are built as a shortlist of competencies. A job description is usually developed by conducting a job analysis, which includes examining the tasks and sequences of tasks necessary to perform the job. The analysis considers the areas ofknowledge and skills needed for the job. A job usually includes several roles. The job description might be broadened to form a person specification or may be known as Terms Of Reference. The person/job specification can be presented as a stand alone document though in practice, it is usually included within the job description. A job description may include relationships with other people in the organization: Supervisory level, managerial requirements, and relationships with other colleagues. A job description need not be limited to explaining the current situation, or work that is currently expected; it may also set out goals for what might be achieved in the future. The term standard operating procedure, or SOP, is used in a variety of different contexts, including healthcare, aviation, education, industry, and military. The U.S. military sometimes uses the term Standing — rather than Standard — Operating Procedure, because a military SOP refers to a unit's unique procedures, which are not necessarily standard to another unit. "Standard" could imply that there is one (standard) procedure to be used across all units. In clinical research, the International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) defines SOPs as "detailed, written instructions to achieve uniformity of the performance of a specific function". SOPs get usually applied in pharmaceutical processing and for related clinical studies. There the focus is set on always repeated applying of unchanged processes and procedures and its documenting, hence supporting the segregation of origins, causes and effects. Further application is with triage, when limited resources get used according to an assessment on ranking, urgence and staffing possibilities.[1] Study director is mainly responsible for SOPs. The Quality Assurance Unit are individuals who are responsible for monitoring whether the study report and tests are meeting the SOP. SOP's can also provide employees with a reference to common business practices, activities, or tasks. New employees use an SOP to answer questions without having to interrupt supervisors to ask how an operation is performed. The international quality standard ISO 9001 essentially requires the determination of processes (documented as standard operating procedures) used in any manufacturing process that could affect the quality of the product. 2.2.I agree to complete the SOP of particular job needs three months. To complete the SOP of particular job.To bring the SOPs in a succeed, it must be researched and evaluated deeply. The involvement from employee is also needed. There are so many aspects which is contained in a hotel. That is why to prove everything well, the completeness of SOPs needs three months. Good day Mr. Akmal.
I'm so sorry for being late to join in this forum because of some troubles. I've read the article entitled "Important Standard Operating Procedure for Hotel" by Neha Barooah and have browsed from internet related to the material given to make it easier to be understood. Actually this is new for me to know and learn more about hotel in depth, especially about our discussion's material, job description and standard operating procedure (SOPs). Eventhough I still have a bit difficulty to understand this one.
As I comprehend from the article, standard operating procedure is one of hotel's parts that has an important role as a key to make a hotel becomes success. Standard operating procedure in hotel has roles those are to set policy, protocols in the hotel in written form and has a purpose that is to ensure that work is done consistently by all persons who are required to do the same task.
1. After reading the article, so I can answer that there is a relationship between SOP and job description. Job description describes every activity of what the workers will do in general and point per point. While SOP explains every point in job description in detail. So the relationship between SOP and job description that is SOP explains in depth and in detail from what has been written in job description before. Besides, the workers must know about her/ his job in her/ his field generally. That is to make the workers know of what they will do. About SOP itself, it seems what the workers need to make her/ his more understand of what they will do in depth and in detail. It's explain very brief in SOP every step that the workers will do in SOP, so they only follow the instruction according to the SOP. For instance, one who works in hotel as a front office, he/ she has known about her/ his job description. It's explained in job description, he/ she has to do: on guest arrival, he/ she as front office has to do greeting, guiding to front desk, and registration. Also he/ she has a SOP, in SOP it's described what he/ she has to do in greeting, that is described how to greet guest in polite way and how to do it, and so on until registration.
2. I agree with Neha's statement. It's needed three in completing SOP. Because it's needed some steps that must be followed to complete this SOP and it's not in short time. Also this SOP must be tested and evaluated in depth, probably by comparing to the others to make it better and better again.

Good Morning Mr.Akmal. I'm really sorry for being late to post my answer. I hope you will accept my sincere apologize for being late comment the topic, Sir.
1. First question, Are there any relationships between job description and job standard of operational? According to me, there is any relationship between job description and job standard of operational. As we know that job descriptions are written statements that describe the: duties, responsibilities, required qualification of candidates, reporting relationship and coworkers of a particular job, and the most important contributions and outcomes needed from a position. When we want to get a job, we have to understand the competencies and skills required to accomplish needed tasks and the needs of the company to produce work, so that the job descriptions are much needed. Job descriptions also include information about working conditions, tools, equipment used, knowledge and skills needed, and relationships with other positions. They have to know what they must do and don’t that appropriate with the instructions. The instructions of the job are on the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). SOPs are very important in a job although employee can be given direct instruction from the supervisor, for example. SOPs are procedures or methods of a job where there are some obligations that must be done. Every field of the job may have different SOPs, but they have same purpose to improve the company image and the customers’ experience.
From the purpose above, we can see that there is relationship between job description and job standard of operational. To support my argument here is the example: I’m a staff of hotel and work the customer’s complaint desk, so I have to know the job description of my position. My responsibility is to listen and handle the customer complaint whatever them are, easy or difficult complaints are. Not only that I also have to give them the best resolution for the customer but also hotel I worked. To do my job perfectly, my management hotel already give me the job standard of operational, and I have to obey some rules in that. Such as, when I face the costumer I have to handle the customer’s complaints in good serve from listen attentively to the hotel guest’s complaint, Identify with the hotel guest, Assess the complaint, etc, till give best resolution or compensation for the customer. So it can be seen that the both, job description and job standard of operational have relationship and they connect each other. It can be said that the job descriptions are the specification and qualification of the job and the SOPs are the guidance for doing the job.
2. For the second question, According to Neha (the writer of the essay), it needs three months to complete the SOP of particular job because to make standard of operational procedure it need some steps to do and that to succeed, must be tested and evaluated in depth. the SOPs are made for the training of the staff in order to improve the company image and the customers’ experience, it has to be made properly.

Good Afternoon Mr. Akmal I'm really sorry for being late to post my answer, Sir.
1. In my opinion, there is relationship between job description and job standard of operational. In job descriptions, there are some written statements that specify the jobs are like duties, responsibilities, required qualifications, etc. Job description can help staff know the way to play in a job. They have to know what they must do and don’t. The staff also can know what they have to complete as the prerequisities in job descriptions, while the instructions of the job are on the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). SOPs are procedures of a job where there are some obligations that must be done. The SOPs are made by company to make empoyee understand easily the instructions of the job.
For example, if we work at a hotel as hotel laudry, the job descriptions provide the list of duties and responsibility, for example, clean and set up laundry and storage rooms for opening, view all unit types in building and understand amenities in building, etc. There are also the information to whom you have to report your responsibility. As hotel laundry, you have to report to General Manager, Housekeeping Supervisor and Duty Manager. The last, there are prerequisites included education and experience that have been passed by the employees. And in SOPs, for example, there are some points or instructions that have to be known and done by hotel laundry, like always follow the laundry production log to determine the order in which the washing has to be done, always load the washer with the correct capacity, Do not overload or under load the machines, etc. So it can be seen that the job description and job standard of operational have relationship. It can be said that the job descriptions are the specification of the job and the SOPs are the guidance for doing the job.
2. I agree with Neha’s statement that it needs three months to complete the SOP of particular job. Because SOPs must be tested and evaluated in depth before it is used to get the best result. The SOPs must be detail and clear in order to make the employee understood eaisily. The SOP also have to be reviewed and updated for example if there is new equipment, so it can be explained using guidance in SOP before the employee use the new equipment and I think three months are enough to complete the SOP.

Answer for number 1
Job description and job standard of operational is connected each other. Job descriptions are written statements that describe the; duties, responsibilities, most important contributions and outcomes needed from a position, required qualifications of candidates, and reporting relationship and coworkers of a particular job. And according to Tjipto Atmoko, standard operating procedures is a guideline or reference to performing the duties of a job in accordance with its function and an instrument in the assessment of performance indicators, government institutions based on technical administrative and procedural appropriate management of working, procedures of work and working system on a unit of work concerned.
The example is if someone going to work, he must be known his job description, so he must be understood all of the job description before he work. And he also have to be understood the standard operating procedures of his job. Just like Neha said, standard operating procedures are made to ensure that customers specially to receive the same treatment every time they visit the hotel. And SOP provides a basis for performance evaluations of the hotel employees.
Just imagine this. If he understood his job description but he did not know the standard operating procedures, then one time he make mistake he maybe confuse what should he do. But if he knows the job description and his the standard operating procedures, he will be able to overcome his mistake. Because the main purpose of standard operating procedures is to ease any process of working and minimize the presence of the error on in the process of the project.
Answer for number 2
I agree with Neha that needs three months to complete the SOP of particular job. Neha said that standard operating procedures can take up to three months to complete, and that to succeed, must be tested and evaluated in depth. Hotel standard operating procedures are more successful when employees are involved in its creation.
When the hotel is going to make the SOP, the hotel has to understand these steps before making the SOP: 1) Collect information as much as possible about the work process both qualitative as well as quantitative.
2) Conduct the interview to be able to understand the process of working in more detail would be made.
3) Use comparison with more than one work process to furrow the process of working approaching effective.
4) Use of any instrument which exist and required on any process of working (tools, hardware, software) to put in sop to be made.

Dear Mr.Akmal 1. Yeah, I think there are many relationship between job description and job standard of operational. Job standar of operational can improve the skill of employees, and also it became the way to create organization on job. The company must give SOP and evaluate the employees. I have seen articles (they tell about SOP), I think, the point Neha’s article is same as the other articles. But Neha just explain about SOP of Hotel. Example: I am working in broadcasting company and my office has SOP to employees. Every employee must know their job, because the office is media company. So, employees must work as team work not INDIVIDUALLY. It means that my office have SOP for each division. Staff program and announcer have SOP to create on air event. Hello Mr. Akmal :) 1. Create a standard size of work that can be used by the employee in evaluating and repairing abilities. answering the questions of the article from Neha. here are my answers, sir 1. absolutely there is. Here is the relationship between job description and Standard Operating Procedure. Job description is a duty that an employee has to do, let us say ‘a bellboy’. When you hear a word ‘bellboy’, what comes into your mind? Let me guess, you must be thinking that someone who helps visitors bringing his or her luggage or case from the lobby to his or her room. That is all about job description. However, on the point of view of Standard Operating Procedure, it is not likely like that only. It is not all, there must be something to do so that the visitors feeling good of the services. For example, after bringing the luggage, the bellboy may ask ‘what else can I do?’ probably it is only an offering, but it is important question. Then that is why, a great hotel should have a Standard Operating Procedure, the one of the purposes of having Standard Operating Procedure is to improve the customer experience, that is true that the employees or the staff of the hotel who have been trained well based on Standard Operating Procedure will be different from the ones who haven’t. for example, in handling the guest’s complain, the ones who work based on the SOP’s will be better in handling it, probably they are more welcome, friendly or good listeners, they will work based on the SOP that the hotel applies. On the other hand, the ones who work not based on SOP or perhaps the hotel does not have any SOP, they will face it badly since they don’t have any Standard Operating Procedures or even they don’t know what to do. 2. Yes, I do In my point of view, within three months, we are examining or observing the quality of the new employee. If the quality of his or hers is appropriate with the SOP applied by the hotel, we may let her or him going on working. If the quality of his or hers is not appropriate with the SOP, we may retire him or her. I think three months is a sufficient time to see someone’s quality in working. Sadam Pamungkas/ 10420379/ 7A would you please comment on my answer? you may ask me to revise it if it is not like what you expect thank you Sorry for the late reply as I was away for a long holiday.Your first answer is supported by detail example of SOP of a bellboy(first he........,then he.....,etc).The score of this work is B.For improving you CD interactive learning into web based, please read the tutorial below; Attachments:sukseswebsite.pdf (520.23 KB)

In my opinion, there is a relationship between job description and SOP. From Wikipedia, Job description is a list that a person might use for general tasks, or functions, and responsibilities of a position. It may often include to whom the position reports, specifications such as the qualifications or skills needed by the person in the job, or a salary range. Then, Definition of SOP based on Neha is setting policy, protocols and the hotel in written form that is readily available in the hotel staff. Setting policy and protocol that mention in Neha’s article is such kind of general task for a position. So, both of SOP and job description has relationship. I don’t think so. It’s too longer. Even if SOP is an important think that have to decide and need time to decided it, but it also needs to be ready in shorter time. It is because every position has to know their policy and protocol. If the time just spent in creating, then it needs more time to start and do the policy and protocol. On the other hand, the hotel must be open soon to get advantages. Hi Rusi, Your answer is very short and no example. The score is C+ For improving your interactive CD into web based, please download the PDF below; Attachments:sukseswebsite.pdf (520.23 KB)
